Windows vs Linux: cutting through the 'Religion'
Windows or Linux? The debate will continue forever, and supporters on each side will claim that they have evidence that their preferred operating system is better. Because Windows is produced by Microsoft, which happens to be one of the most powerful companies on the planet, is it easy to be cynical about anyone touting the benefits of Windows over Linux and pass them off as having been bought by the 'beast of Redmond'. Linux has some very large companies such as IBM backing it, and also some rather fanatical supporters, so although Linux itself is based on what is generally a rather benign and worthy concept, information from Linux supporters is just as likely to be biased as anything being paid for by Microsoft.
In this article, I want to lay the religion aside, and look at if and when each operating system should be used.
Firstly, I want to look at desktop operating systems, as this is what the majority of people come in contact with on a day to day basis.
